About Us
Mission Statement
To relieve poverty, hardship and distress among children and young people with disabilities or special educational needs, and their families and carers, across Sussex, through such exclusively charitable means as the Trustees may from time to time determine.

The Anne Bickmore Children’s Fund (ABC Fund) was founded in 1991 by Anne Bickmore, from whom the charity takes its name.
Anne was a swimming teacher who wanted to encourage her pupils to complete their distance swimming badges while raising money through sponsorship for less fortunate children. Their first fundraising event raised £800 for Comic Relief. A few years later, the money raised by her pupils was used to provide treats and special experiences for children in need.
As the fund grew, its activities expanded to include providing pantomime tickets, food hampers, vouchers, play-scheme equipment, colouring books for hospitals, and trauma teddies for emergency services. In 2005, the ABC Fund became a registered charity and has continued to grow into the organisation it is today, supporting disadvantaged children and families across Sussex.
