ABC Fund News for 2021

Since lockdown, many of our activities were affected. We have still been able to support our families, giving children things to look forward to.

Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital

The Play team needed items that once used could not be returned for re-use. We came to their rescue and provided bubbles, play-doh, crayons, colouring books, games, sticker, arts & crafts as well as cosmetic sets for the older children. This we did on three occasions. We also presented the team with some “poorly teddies” who had had operations similar to some of the children and needed to be looked after.

Easter 2021

We filled 100 x £10 craft bags with paper, crayons, play-doh, cress seeds, feathers, stickers, pipe cleaners, etc.

We also provided Easter eggs. The chocolate bunnies were used as an outdoor treasure hunt in the woods.

Summer Holidays

We bought in 100 day’s out vouchers for Knockhatch Adventure Park, 100 ride tickets+ donut or ice cream vouchers for The Palace Pier, Brighton and 50 ticket s to visit Paradise Park. These were distributed mainly to families recommended by their key worker.

All our fundraising fete days were cancelled. However, we’re now able to look forward to running them once again.

RNLI Fête

Saturday 11 September Fort Road recreation Ground, Newhaven

Our first fete of the year. It was nice to get out and meet the public who were very supportive buying raffle tickets for our Winter Solstice Grand Draw and playing our card game. The whistles were definitely the most popular prize, much to the annoyance of parents.

Bede’s School, Upper Dicker

Friday 17 September

Sadly, due to Covid restrictions, this event had to be cancelled to be re-arranged next year, hopefully.

Christmas Hampers

The week beginning 6 December

Thanks to the Stud House students from Bedes were were able to pack 100 luxury Christmas hampers in record time.

Peacehaven Christmas Fayre

Saturday 11 December

It was good to see so many turn out for the Christmas Fayre held in the Meridian Centre. We were able to sell raffle tickets and were pleased that some of you were winners.

Winter Solstice Evening

Saturday 18 December

Our thanks goes to GPD Fencing Peacehaven for organising such a magnificent Grand Draw celebrating our 30th anniversary. The draw took place at The Good Companions, Peacehaven and 30 lucky winners won prizes valued at around £50 each.

Sleeping Beauty, Devonshire Theatre, Eastbourne

Wednesday 22 December

As usual, a great pantomime, but this year under very difficult Covid circumstances.   Nurse Nellie our very own Patron – Martyn Knight – stole the show as usual.
